§Every Door Direct Mail® USPS Rule Book

An independent annotated guide. Not a USPS publication and not affiliated with or endorsed by USPS.

Disclaimer

This rule book summarizes and explains USPS rules. It isn't the rules. The Domestic Mail Manual and Notice 123 are authoritative, and your Post Office decides what it accepts.

Current to November 7, 2026

We paraphrase USPS text for readability and add our own notes. A paraphrase can't capture every condition, so read the source section before relying on a rule for an unusual mailing.
